Stick to 24V

I run 24V rather than 12V wherever I can. Double the voltage means half the current for the same power, so you do not need massive wiring and voltage drop is less of a problem over longer cable runs. Most of the DC gear I use, pumps included, is rated 12V or 24V. Where there is a choice, take the 24V option.

Keep everything DC

Do not use inverters unless you absolutely have to. Run pumps, lights, chargers and whatever else you can straight off the battery bank at native DC. If you keep everything below 50V you do not need to worry about calling in an electrician for low-voltage work, and that is a big win for a backyard or shed setup you want to tweak yourself.
